A ruddy sunrise over Lake Michigan.
I made it out to the Fullerton sea wall with Matt Frankel this morning. The atmospherics over the lake were stunning and I made a short time lapse of the clouds rolling overhead and the sun rising from its crimson birth through shades of orange and gold as the lake shimmered underneath and the gulls dove for fish.
I reflect often on coming back to Chicago and leaving California behind; as I was making this video, another who had come to see sunrise stopped to remark on what a beautiful morning it was. Leaving Chicago for Ohio, she expressed some of the same heartbreak at leaving a place of such beauty for points east. I could relate.
