It is useful from time to time to return to why I started and why I continue to publish images and thoughts to this website. Despite the changes in direction, despite the changes in my personal life, and despite the changes in the frequency with which I publish, the exercise remains one of the most satisfying.
Why? Because the reason photography is meaningful is the way in which it matches memory. We filter through the mundane, through the mediocre, through the painful to hold onto those things we most value. So it is with this photograph.
My wife and I expect a new addition to the family soon and I've spent some time reflecting on the last year. Despite everything, there are a few moments that stand out: golden, beautiful, rich, and timeless - many of them are captured in photographs I've published here. Others are still jealously locked away in my hard disc, waiting for another day to be shared.
